This six-part canvas depicts the traumatic experiences of emigration and motherhood. It is a self-portrait in which the 'self' is disintegrating, with something constantly falling out. The old identity is lost and the new one is reassembled from rubbish found in Tbilisi's dumpsters. The fabric, underframes, sewing machine, iron and ironing board all came from the streets in the same way.
A new fate is sewn from the cut-up clothes of strangers. Cutting. Stitching. A compulsive repetition of actions upon the body. All for the sake of reclaiming it for a moment. Partial objects rub against each other in a vain attempt to unite into a whole; however, the dissected figure remains only a set of close-ups.
