Angie Vein
Unchained Reality
About the project
My works revolve around notions of inclusion and the freedom of inclusion. As in art and mediums. inclusion is the most important of all issues, both in practice and in theory. The freedom to unchain ourselves from what the norms have established for us since years, decades or even centuries ago is our privilege. and no one can take it from us. We have the right to choose but that is also not a privilege, so let us speak with color, sound, movement, touch, because that’s what we have left, and that’s the most important thing. When civilizations and societies collapse and norms collapse, only art remains. That’s what I stand for here.
About the author
My name is Angie Vane. I am 31 years old, and I am a Greek descendant from Asia Minor. I was born in Georgia and repatriated to Greece in 1997. Due to the economic crisis that hit Greece, I moved to Cyprus in 2008, where I have been living ever since. I never had the financial opportunity to study abroad, so after graduation, the fine artist master Andreas Charalambous took me as one of his students, and in return I worked in his atelier/school as an assistant. At that time, there was no law on fine arts in Cyprus, so when they opened the department, I applied to participate in a scholarship competition. I took second place by presenting the Artist Book: "Behind Doors", which I prepared specifically for the competition. I graduated from the University of Nicosia in June this year and plan to get a Master’s degree in Digital Art and Design at the University of Nicosia as soon as I pay off my entire outstanding balance. I am self-sufficient, I do live alone and take care of my living and education.
