About the project
"1.In Siberia, all the children wore felt boots, and after playing outside in kindergarten, all the boots were placed to dry on the radiator. To differentiate their boots from others, parents would come up with their own unique patterns.

2. “The bloody color of roses flows like tears. My new work shows roses cascading from the canvas like red tears. I wanted them to spill beyond the canvas, so you’d feel them underfoot. Yet, if you look closely, there’s beauty even in sorrow.”"

1. On the canvas is a naze of childhood memories - snowflakes on valenki
whitewash on the stove, patterns on winter glass. Next to them are the tense
outlines of adult life: tangled affairs, gray everyday routines. How
to not forget your childhood, to preserve within yourself the spark of faith, magic,
and carefreeness? In it, the awareness of
the past and present is intertwined,
reminding us of the importance of keeping a hand on the pulse of our inne
child, honoring the objects and images
that created the world of your soul.
About the artist
Name: Karina Kherman
Born — Location: Russia — Georgia

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, I chose Georgia as a temporary refuge. Now, my life feels like the same day repeating, but art helps me brighten this time.

What is death to me? Am I afraid of it? Yes, I am, but not of physical death—of spiritual death. Right now, I am standing on the threshold of such a death, and it bears the name despair and fear of life itself.
