About the artist
Mako Lomadze is a contemporary artist based in Tbilisi, Georgia. She earned both her bachelor’s (2009–2014) and master’s (2014–2017) degrees in fine arts from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. Her work has been exhibited in numerous local and international exhibitions and residencies, and is held in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cosenza, the Tbilisi Fine Arts Museum, and private collections across Europe, Georgia, Canada, and the U.S.

Lomadze’s practice centers on traditional oil painting, which she uses to explore emotional depth and symbolic narratives. Guided by introspection, her work navigates themes of dreams, the subconscious, and philosophical inquiry. Often focusing on self-portraiture, her series evoke a sense of poetic melancholy and solitude. Her visual language reflects shifting perceptions of womanhood and identity in contemporary society, developed through both in-depth research and personal reflection.
