Работа была сделана спонтанно из доступного на тот момент предмета быта. Это ящик из стола на съёмной квартире в Алматы, куда я внезапно переехал из Москвы в конце сентября 2022 года. Крайняя манера эстетизации бытовых предметов с элементами украшательства для меня является развитием практики реди-мейда через процессуально-перформативное действие. Мне не столько важен сам объект (хотя, процесс работы — это достаточно интенсивное воздействие на материал и через материал), сколько контекст его экспозиции и мой личный опыт на момент создания. «Ковчег» — это и ящик с ручкой, который отсылает к символу дома на водах — спасению и безопасности, и само предположение возможности создания произведения искусства в любых бытовых условиях.

The work was done spontaneously from a household item available at that time. This is a drawer from a rented apartment in Almaty, where I suddenly moved from Moscow at the end of September 2022. The extreme manner of aestheticizing household objects with elements of decoration for me is the development of the practice of ready-made through procedural-performative action. The object itself is not so important to me (although the process of work is a fairly intense impact on the material and through the material) as the context of its exposition and my personal experience at the time of creation. The "Ark" is both a box with a handle, which refers to the symbol of a house on the waters (salvation and safety), and the very assumption of the possibility of creating a work of art in any living conditions.

В 2009 году оставил художественное образование и начал работать в детской психиатрической больнице. Позднее получил психологическое образование и сейчас сочетает работу с людьми и художественной деятельностью.

Вдохновляясь эстетикой арт-брют и искренностью аутсайдер-арта, в своей художественной практике работает с переносом объектов и явлений из бытового, культурного и социального пространства в символическое.

Выявляя эстетическую ценность того, что выкинуто как социумом, так и индивидуальной психикой, обращает внимание на изнанку человеческого бытия и терапевтический эффект творчества.

Maksim Subota was born in 1985 in the Moscow region.

In 2009, he left his art education and began working in a children’s psychiatric hospital. Later he received a psychological education and now combines work with people and artistic activities.

Inspired by the aesthetics of art brut and the sincerity of outsider art, in his artistic practice he works with the transfer of objects and phenomena from everyday, cultural and social space to symbolic.

Revealing the aesthetic value of what is thrown out by both society and the individual psyche, he draws attention to the underside of human existence and the therapeutic effect of creativity.

В сентября 2022 случился мой первый выезд и сразу из страны.
