Dmitrii Maikovich is a multidisciplinary artist and designer.
He creates cinematic stories via a variety of mediums: books, installations, and animations. By using techniques such as montage, careful guidance of the viewers’ attention, and others, he creates a sense of film-like rhythm and atmosphere in his works.
Dmitrii's creations are figurative, they merge writing, 2D/3D illustration and animation, typography, and sound design. He's drawn to complex, technically demanding projects that require both craft and conceptual precision. In writing, he experiment with hypertext and the cut-up method. In graphics, he explore hyperrealism and stylization.
He's attracted to intentionally fragmented narratives, which often feel like B-movies or teenage magazines, where events and characters are exaggerated, borderlining bad taste. The stories tend to be absurd or inconsistent, creating a texture that shifts the focus from straightforward description to the search for meaning. It helps me discover new insights and associations at the intersections and fractures of the worlds he create.
Themes of the city and nature, humans and machines are dominant. They seem to be extensions and reflections of one another. For Dmitrii, art is a way to express subtle, hard-to-articulate emotional experiences, and release hard-to-articulate magical and poetic essence.
