Исполнение наказания вместо исправления преступника — эта семантическая ошибка закралась в название целого государственного института и так там и живёт. Два зэка из трёх, по статистике ФСИН за 2020 год, попали в места заключения уже не в первый раз. Сотрудники ИК-7 говорят, что для женской колонии эти цифры ещё мрачнее. И даже ошибку юности или глупости — случайный шаг за грань закона — часто не удаётся исправить вовсе.
Замок на воротах тюрьмы иногда, лязгая, открывается, но фактически только для того, чтобы показать путь, который приведёт обратно.
Суд устанавливает срок наказания, но даже самый короткий часто оказывается пожизненным. Пожизненным отчуждением от друзей, семьи, работы, нормальной жизни. И спрятаться от этой неприкаянности, отгородиться от пьяного окружения или бьющего мужа можно только внутри этих стен.

Why is this happening? Every day we, those who live in "freedom", solve financial and housing issues, family and personal conflicts. But for the released prisoners, these problems reach a new level. They have no supporting community, and often no housing; they are unable to study or get a job. Those who have served a long term do not know how to live in the modern world. They do not know how to use the Internet, what modern money looks like, how to look for help and support. Those who find it too difficult to adjust come back.
